Storm drops road game to Force 5-3

FARGO, ND. – The Tri-City Storm dropped a road game to the Fargo Force by a final score of 5-3 to conclude a six-game road trip. The loss for Tri-City was the first regulation loss of the 2022 calendar year. The Storm had its season-high 13-game point streak snapped in the loss. Ilya Nikolaev, Lleyton Roed, and Jeremy Wilmer scored goals for Tri-City in Saturday night’s game. Tri-City now returns home to host the Omaha Lancers at the Viaero Center on Friday, February 18th after playing eight of the last nine games on the road. The game will be “United Way Night” with the Storm wearing specialty jerseys in the matchup. A Nebraska Lottery Rivalry 4-Pack and $5 Kids’ Tickets will be available for purchase. Andre Gasseau scored Fargo’s opening goal of the game on the powerplay at 8:22 of the 1st period. The Force extended its lead with less than ten seconds to play in the 1st period by netting another powerplay goal. The goal was scored by German Yavash. Fargo outshot Tri-City 13-5 in Saturday’s 1st period and carried a 2-0 lead into the 2nd period.


Ilya Nikolaev netted his 13th goal of the year at less than three minutes into the 2nd period to cut into Fargo’s lead. Nikolaev’s goal was scored shorthanded and was assisted by Jeremy Wilmer and Victor Czerneckianair. Lleyton Roed scored his 16th goal of the season at 7:28 of the 2nd period to tie the game. Roed’s goal was scored on the powerplay and was assisted by Vinny Borgesi and Victor Czerneckianair. Tanner Walos gave Fargo another lead in the game at 14:38 of the period. The goal was his second of the year. Jeremy Wilmer netted his 16th goal of the season at 15:49 of the 2nd period to bring the game to a 3-3 tie. Wilmer’s goal was assisted by Cole O’Hara and Ilya Nikolaev. Cole Knuble scored a goal at 17:28 of the 2nd period to give Fargo a 4-3 lead in the game. The final goal of Saturday’s high-scoring 2nd period was netted by German Yavash with 12 seconds left to play in the period. The goal was Yavash’s second of the game and gave Fargo a 5-3 lead over the Storm. Arsenii Sergeev was assessed a game misconduct penalty following the goal. Sebastian Wraneschitz entered the game for the Storm following Sergeev’s ejection. Shots on goal were 12-12 in the 2nd period and Fargo led by two goals entering the 3rd period.


Each team was held off of the scoreboard in the 3rd period. Saturday’s game ended in a 5-3 road loss for the Storm. Louden Hogg notched the win in net for Fargo after a 19 save on 22 shot performance.
