KEARNEY, NE. – The Tri-City Storm has added goaltender Michael Sochan to the organization’s 25-man roster ahead of tonight’s New Year’s Eve game at the Viaero Center against the Lincoln Stars.
Michael Sochan, 19, of Redwood City, California, joins the Storm after appearing in two games during the 2021-2022 regular season with the Sioux Falls Stampede. Sochan made his USHL debut on September 26th, 2021, in Sioux Falls’ 6-1 loss to the Chicago Steel at the 2021 USHL Fall Classic. He played for the Los Angeles Jr. Kings AAA organization from 2017-2020. Sochan appeared in more than forty games last year with the Ohio Jr. Blue Jackets AAA team. In addition to appearing in two games this season with Sioux Falls, Sochan has also appeared in two games in goal for the Utica Jr. Comets (NCDC).
“I am super excited to join the Storm! Tri-City’s success on the ice shows the quality of the organization, the coaching staff, and the players. When I spoke to the coaches they talked about the culture here, both on and off the ice, and I am looking forward to being a part of it. Playing in the USHL is an honor. It is exciting to be challenged every day and to compete with the best players. It is important to work hard and focus on improving each day.” – Goaltender Michael Sochan
“With the addition of Michael Sochan, we add a goaltender that really came on to the scene last season after a move to Columbus, Ohio and the Ohio Jr. Blue Jackets U18 program. His clutch play last spring helped get the Blue Jackets past some strong opponents in the Mid-Am District AAA Playoffs and into U18 Nationals. This season, Michael has been a part of two USHL clubs in our division and has been competing against quality shooters which should enable him to slide right into our team and environment in Kearney. We welcome Michael to our club as we head into 2022.” – General Manager Jason Koehler
