Arsenii Sergeev posts fourth career USHL shutout

KEARNEY, NE. – The Tri-City Storm posted a 3-0 shutout against the Sioux City Musketeers Friday at the Viaero Center to improve to 18-4-1-0 on the season. Arsenii Sergeev recorded his league-leading fourth shutout in the victory. Cole O’Hara, Kieran Cebrian, and Dane Dowiak netted goals for the Storm in the win. Tri-City returns to action tomorrow night at the Viaero Center in a rematch against the Musketeers. The Tri-City Storm and the Viaero Center will host a canned food drive at tomorrow’s game to benefit the Tri-City Food Fight. Fans who donate two or more canned food items at Saturday’s game will receive a voucher to attend a future home game during the 2021-2022 regular season. Puck drop for tomorrow’s rematch against the Musketeers is scheduled for 7:05pm CT.


Cole O’Hara netted his tenth goal of the season at 11:14 of the 1st period to set off the Storm’s annual “Teddy Bear Toss” at the Viaero Center. Fans attending Friday’s game donated teddy bears by throwing them on the ice after Tri-City’s 1st period powerplay goal. Jeremy Wilmer notched his 19th assist of the season on the scoring play. Almost exactly two minutes later, at 13:13 of the 1st period, Kieran Cebrian scored his fourth goal of the season to give Tri-City a 2-0 lead in the game. The Storm outshot the Musketeers 9-6 in the 1st period and carried a two-goal lead into the 2nd period.


Following a scoreless 2nd period, Friday’s 3rd period began with Tri-City leading by a 2-0 margin in the game. Tri-City’s penalty kill was successful on the only powerplay awarded to the Musketeers during the 3rd period. Tri-City held off a 6 on 5 attack in the final minutes of the game and won the game by a final score of 3-0. Dane Dowiak scored his third goal of the regular season at 19:50 of the 3rd period to seal the Storm’s victory. After blanking the Musketeers in a 1-0 overtime victory on November 6th, the Storm has now posted two shutouts through the opening four games of the season series.


Arsenii Sergeev now leads the USHL in Wins (14), Goals Against Average (1.47), Save Percentage (.940%), and shutouts (4) after Friday’s performance. Sergeev turned aside all 21 of Sioux City’s shots on net during the contest. Alex Tracy recorded his fourth regulation loss of the year in goal for the Musketeers after making 19 saves on 21 shots. Cole O’Hara was named the game’s 1st Star after netting the game-winning goal in Friday’s 1st period. Arsenii Sergeev and Kieran Cebrian recorded 2nd Star and 3rd Star honors, respectively. Attendance for the game was 1,717.
