Tri-City (5-1-0-0) fell short of setting a new organization record for the most consecutive wins to begin a regular season in last night’s road loss to the Sioux City Musketeers. The Storm dropped the high-scoring game by a final score of 6-4. Tri-City had given up six goals through the opening five games of the season entering last night’s contest against the Musketeers. Gavin Brindley (2), Cole O’Hara, and Tanner Adams scored goals for the Storm during the game. The six goals netted by Sioux City were the most goals Tri-City has allowed in a regular season game since the team dropped a 6-3 decision to the Musketeers on March 7th, 2021. The Storm posted a 5-2-1 record in head-to-head matchups against the Sioux Falls Stampede last season. Tonight’s game will be the first time the Stampede have visited the Viaero Center following a 7-4 loss to the Storm on March 20th, 2021, that included a goal scored by Storm goaltender Todd Scott. The highlight of the goal was viewed and shared over one million times on social media.
Sioux Falls (1-5-0-0) produced the worst record in the USHL’s Western Conference last season (18-32-3-1) and seeks only its second win of the 2021-2022 regular season tonight at the Viaero Center. The Stampede defeated the Muskegon Lumberjacks in a shootout by a final score of 4-3 on September 25th in Sioux Falls’ opening game of the season at the 2021 USHL Fall Classic. Following the victory, Sioux Falls has dropped five consecutive games and will look to snap the losing skid tonight against the Storm. Garret Pinoniemi (3), Ray Fust (2), Brandon Chabrier (2), Sam Harris, Blake Humphrey, Cole Miller, and Luke Korn have scored goals to this point in the season for the Stampede. Tonight’s road game against Tri-City is the only game of the weekend for Sioux Falls.
