Lincoln NE. – The Tri-City Storm netted four unanswered goals in Friday’s road game against the Lincoln Stars to post a 4-1 victory. Mitchell Miller, Graham Gamache, Gavin Brindley, and Jeremy Wilmer all scored goals for Tri-City in the win. Arsenii Sergeev turned away 26 of Lincoln’s 27 shots on net. Tri-City returns to action on Friday, October 8th in the 2021-2022 Home Opener at the Viaero Center in a matchup against the Waterloo Black Hawks. Puck drop is set for 7:05pm CT.
Lincoln opened the scoring Friday night with a power-play goal netted by Jack Silich at 16:31 of the 1st period. The goal was assisted by Carter Schade and it gave the Stars the team’s only lead of the game. Less than two minutes later, Mitchell Miller scored his first goal of the season on the power-play to tie the game at 1-1. Miller’s goal was assisted by Victor Czerneckianair and Gavin Brindley. Tri-City outshot Lincoln 12-9 in the 1st period and the game entered the 2nd period in a tie.
Graham Gamache scored the only goal of the 2nd period to give Tri-City a one-goal advantage. Gamache’s goal was scored at 12:17 of the 2nd period and was his first career goal in the USHL. The Storm outshot the Stars 11-8 in the 2nd period.
Gavin Brindley notched his team-leading 3rd goal of the season just over one minute into Friday’s 3rd period to increase the Storm’s lead in the game to two goals. Cole O’Hara recorded the lone assist on the power-play goal. With less than five minutes to play in the game, Jeremy Wilmer scored his second goal of the season to seal the Storm’s road victory. Mitchell Miller and Graham Gamache each recorded an assist on the scoring play. Tri-City outshot Lincoln 13-10 in the 3rd period and 36-27 in the game. Tri-City won by a final score of 4-1 and improved to 3-0-0-0 on the season.
Tri-City’s Home Opener at the Viaero Center in Kearney will be played at 7:05pm CT on Friday, October 8th against the Waterloo Black Hawks.
