Kearney, NE. – The Tri-City Storm host the Des Moines Buccaneers this afternoon at the Viaero Center for “Fan Appreciation Night”. The Storm is one point away from clinching the USHL’s Western Conference Regular Season Championship for the third time in organization history. Tri-City previously captured the title of Western Conference Regular Season Champions for the 2003-2004 & 2015-2016 seasons. Tickets for today’s game can be purchased via or by calling the Viaero Center Box Office at 308-338-8144. Puck drop is set for 4:05pm.

Tri-City (30-14-3-1) enters today’s game as the only team in the USHL’s Western Conference with a guaranteed spot in the 2021 Clark Cup Playoffs. Tri-City has collected at least one point in the standings in nine of the last ten games. Last night, the Storm dropped a home contest against the Des Moines Buccaneers by a final score of 5-4 in overtime. Matthew Knies (2), Adam Klapka, and Hunter Strand scored goals in the loss. Tri-City is now 6-4-2-1 against the Buccaneers in games played at the Viaero Center over the past five seasons. The Storm won three of four games in last year’s season series. Tri-City can finish this year’s season series with a 2-2-1-0 record against Des Moines with a home win at the Viaero Center this afternoon. With two home games remaining in the 2020-2021 regular season, Tri-City has collected thirty-three of a possible forty-eight points in games played at the Viaero Center this year. Following today’s home game against Des Moines, the Storm will enter the final week of the 2020-2021 regular season with games against the Sioux City Musketeers (@ Wednesday) and the Omaha Lancers (VS. Friday, @ Saturday). The Storm will host the Western Conference Semifinal round of the 2021 Clark Cup Playoffs at the Viaero Center April 30th-May 2nd (Best two of three series).

Des Moines (25-19-4-0) entered this weekend’s road series against the Storm having dropped four consecutive games but have posted back-to-back wins over Tri-City to begin the weekend. The Buccaneers defeated the Storm 4-3 on Friday night and produced a 5-4 overtime win last night after falling behind by four goals in the 2nd period. Matt Choupani (2), Killian Kiecker-Olson, Alex Laferriere, and Sam Renlund all scored goals in last night’s road win over the Storm. Remington Keopple made ten saves on eleven shots to record the win in goal after entering the game to relieve starting goalie Derek Mullahy. The Buccaneers currently trail the Sioux City Musketeers for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. A win today over the Storm would give Des Moines a slight edge over the Musketeers entering the final week of the regular season.

Today’s game is set to begin at 4:05pm CT and will be streamed live on HockeyTV, and Storm Radio. For tickets to Storm home games at the Viaero Center, call 308-338-8144 or visit #StormAhead
