Preview: Storm set for road series against Force

Fargo, ND. – The Tri-City Storm begin a three-game road series tonight against the Fargo Force. Earlier this season, Tri-City split a two-game home series against the Force at the Viaero Center. Following this week’s three-game series, the Storm’s final matchup against the Force this season will be played at the Viaero Center on  February 27th. Puck drop for tonight’s road game at Scheels Arena is scheduled for 7:05pm.


Tri-City (8-6-0-1) returns to action tonight following a 2-1 win over the Sioux City Musketeers at the Viaero Center on Saturday. Hunter Strand and Cole McWard each scored the Storm’s goals in the victory. Isac Jonsson (2) and Mark Estapa recorded assists in the game. Connor Hopkins made 17 saves on 18 shots to record the win in net for Tri-City. The win was Hopkins’ second win in three starts this season. The Storm hold a 9-9-0-1 record against the Force in head-to-head matchups over the past five seasons. Tri-City won last season’s series against Fargo, winning three of the five games played between the two teams. Last March, Tri-City was traveling to Fargo for a two-game series against the Force when the 2019-2020 USHL regular season was paused due to COVID-19 concerns. Tonight’s game will be the Storm’s first at Scheels Arena since the team split a road series against Fargo in November of 2019. Through the opening fifteen games of the 2020-2021 regular season, scoring leaders for Tri-City include; Carter Mazur (6), Hunter Strand (5), Nick Portz (4), Cole McWard (3), Victor Czerneckianair (3), Mark Estapa (3) and Parker Lindauer (3).


Fargo (13-4-2-0) enters tonight’s game as the 1st place team in the USHL’s league standings. The Force hold a six-point lead over the Des Moines Buccaneers for 1st place in the Western Conference. The Force had a four-game winning streak snapped on Sunday afternoon in a 6-2 road loss to the Sioux City Musketeers. Sunday’s game was the last road game for Fargo until the team returns to the Tyson Events Center on January 29th for another matchup against the Musketeers. Tonight’s game is the opening game of a five-game homestand for Fargo. Scoring leaders for Fargo entering this week’s home series against the Storm include; Jeremy Davidson (7), Matthew Crasa (7), Mason Salquist (7) Tyler Rollwagen (7), Tristan Broz (6), and Jacob Braccini (6). Brennan Boynton has posted a 10-1-1-0 record in net for Fargo in fourteen appearances this season. He currently has a Goals Against Average (GAA) of 2.13 and a Save Percentage (SV%) of .919. Andrew Miller has appeared in seven games in goal this year for Fargo and has a record of 3-3-1-0. His GAA is 2.85 and his SV% is .885 entering tonight’s game.
