Kearney, NE. – The Tri-City Storm dropped a home game to the Sioux City Musketeers Friday night at the Viaero Center by a final score of 4-1. Gavin Brindley scored Tri-City’s only goal in the loss. The Storm return to action tomorrow night in a rematch game against Sioux City. Chase Bradley opened the scoring for Sioux City in the first three minutes of Friday’s game. Bradley scored at 2:48 of the 1st period to give the Musketeers a 1-0 lead. Justin Hryckowian recorded the assist on the goal. Gavin Brindley tied the game for the Storm at 11:27 of the 1st period on a goal assisted by Steven Bellini. The scoring play was the second goal of the season for Brindley and the third assist of the year for Bellini. Tri-City outshot Sioux City 8-7 in the 1st period and the game entered the 2nd period in a 1-1 tie.
Ben Steeves scored the only goal of the 2nd period to give the Musketeers a 2-1 lead. Steeves goal was scored even-strength at 15:57 of the period. It was assisted by Ben Doran. Tri-City outshot Sioux City 11-8 in the 2nd period, but trailed by one goal entering the 3rd period.
Sioux City scored the only goals of the 3rd period and won the game by a final score of 4-1. Brendan Olson netted his fourth goal of the season forty-one seconds into the period to give Sioux City a two goal lead. Minutes later, at 4:42 of the 3rd period, Ben Doran scored his first goal of the year to increase the Musketeer’s lead to 4-1. Akira Schmid made 21 saves on 22 shots to record the win in net.
Todd Scott recorded the loss in goal after making 19 saves on 23 shots. Tri-City’s Gavin Brindley was named the 3rd Star of the Game following his 1st period goal. Tri-City dropped to 7-6-0-1 overall and 3-3-0-0 in home games this season.
Specials for tomorrow’s home game at the Viaero Center include; $2 Busch Light cans, $2 Coors Light cans, $2 Bottles of Soda, $2 Bottles of Water, and $2 Hot Dogs. A limited amount of tickets are available for tomorrow’s game.
