Kearney, NE. – The Tri-City Storm has announced its complete exhibition schedule for the 2020-2021 season. The first event on the Storm’s exhibition schedule will be an intersqaud scrimmage on Saturday, October 10th at 11:05am. The scrimmage will be free to attend for the public and will feature a post-game skate with Stormy! Following Saturday’s open scrimmage, the Storm will battle instate rivals Omaha & Lincoln in a six-game exhibition schedule as part of the inaugural “Corn Cup” preseason event. Tickets to each preseason game will be $5. Storm Season Ticket Holders can attend each home game during the preseason for no additional charge.
Saturday’s intersquad scrimmage at the Viaero Center will give fans a first look at this year’s team. USHL teams have until November 2nd to trim their roster down to 25 players, and for the Storm, Saturday’s scrimmage and subsequent exhibition games will play a critical role in that process. Seats will be blocked off based on social distancing guidelines presented by the Two Rivers Health Department. Masks must be worn in order to enter the building, while walking on the concourse, and while standing in line at the concession stand and inside of the restroom facilities. Once seated, masks are highly recommended but are not mandatory. A limited concession menu will be available for purchase at Concession Stand #6. Saturday’s postgame skate with Stormy will have limited space available and skaters must sign up during the scrimmage at the Purple Tent on the concourse. The intersquad scrimmage will be held prior to Saturday’s UNK football scrimmage with the intention of providing the public ample time to support both teams during the day.
The 2020 Corn Cup preseason event will be conducted during October between the USHL’s three Nebraska based teams to provide a competitive exhibition schedule prior to opening night of the 2020-2021 regular season. Tri-City will begin its Corn Cup preseason schedule with a home matchup against the Omaha Lancers on Friday, October 16th at 7:05pm. The Storm will host the Lincoln Stars the following night at 7:05pm. On Friday, October 23rd, Tri-City will travel to the Ice Box in Lincoln for a road battle against the Lincoln Stars. On Sunday, October 25th, the Storm will host the Omaha Lancers at the Viaero Center at 4:05pm. Finally, Tri-City will travel to Ralston Arena for a road matchup against the Omaha Lancers on Thursday, October 29th before returning home for the final preseason game of the year against the Lincoln Stars on Saturday, October 31st at the Viaero Center.
Tickets for all Storm preseason and regular season games will go on sale Monday, October 12th and can be purchased by calling the Viaero Center Box Office at 308-338-8144. 2019-2020 Storm Season Ticket Holders who have not already renewed and wish to do so for the 2020-2021 season should contact Micah Beutell, Senior Director of Ticket Sales/Operations, by noon on Thursday.
