Robyn & John Schultheiss named Storm's Billet Family of the Year

Kearney, NE. – The Tri-City Storm has announced that Robyn & John Schultheiss have been named the team’s Billet Family of the Year for the 2019-2020 season. They have served as proud billets for the Tri-City Storm organization for the past nine years and reside in Kearney.

The Tri-City Storm billet program matches players with host families during the hockey season. USHL players are in the 16-20 age range and need a home away from home when playing for the Storm each season. These families provide each player with meals, transportation, and tremendous support throughout the year. Many have built lifelong relationships with Storm players who have moved on to play collegiate and professional hockey. This year, John & Robyn Schultheiss hosted Ian Murphy, Benji Eckerle, and Mark Estapa.

The Tri-City Storm is blessed to have a great group of billets. Most of the billets started out as strangers with only their love for hockey and a willingness to help in binding them together. But after cooking, cleaning, and counseling young men with a dream of playing hockey at the next level, these strangers became family. John & Robyn Schultheiss have been part of our billet family for nine seasons. They are always willing to help, if that means taking an extra player, feeding players whose billets are out of town, or helping to sell player buttons or tickets for a raffle. They are a great representation of the Tri-City Storm billet program.Housing Coordinator Scott White

"We want to thank every single family that serves as a billet for our players. We started this award this year to recognize their selflessness. While we know every single one of our billet families for all 16 of our Member Clubs welcome our players with open arms as if they're members of their own family, we are excited that going forward, our Clubs will be able to highlight one of these outstanding families each season. Their commitment to shaping these young men's careers and personalities during their time in the USHL is exemplary and we are continually amazed by the dedication they show in serving as a billet family." USHL President & Commissioner Tom Garrity
