Preview: Storm set for “Dog Night” at Viaero Center

Kearney, NE. – The Tri-City Storm returns to action tonight at the Viaero Center following last night’s 4-1 loss to the Muskegon Lumberjacks. Tonight, Tri-City will hold a “Dog Night” promotion, where fans are encouraged to bring their dogs with them to the game! Dog’s must remain on a leash at all times. In tonight’s game, Tri-City seeks a bounce back victory after last night’s weekend opening loss to Muskegon. Tickets to tonight’s showdown between the Storm and the Lumberjacks can be purchased by calling the Viaero Center Box Office at 308-338-8144 or by visiting www.StormHockey.com. Puck drop for tonight’s game is scheduled for 7:05pm.

 

Tri-City (23-17-5-2) outshot Muskegon by a wide margin of 39-18 in last night’s game but only found the back of the net once on a shorthanded goal netted by Carter Mazur in the 3rd period. In the loss, the Storm dropped to 6-6-1-1 against Eastern Conference competition this season. The Storm continue to hold the 4th place in the USHL’s Western Conference standings, and the team enters tonight’s home game at the Viaero Center three points behind 3rd place Fargo. Tri-City is 5-3-2-0 in its past ten games and has recorded points in the standings in five of its last seven games. Tonight’s matchup is the final game this season between the Lumberjacks and the Storm. Following tonight’s game, the Storm will travel to Scheels Arena in Fargo, ND for back to back road games against the Fargo Force next weekend.

 

Muskegon (21-22-5-0) moved to 5th place in the Eastern Conference standings in last night’s 4-1 road win over Tri-City. Alex Konovalov, Cameron Berg, Tanner Edwards, and Christophe Fillion all scored in last night’s victory. Jonathan Williams recorded his stopped 38 of the Storm’s 39 shots on goal. The Lumberjacks improved to 10-12-2-0 in road games this season. Through the first forty-eight games of the regular season scoring leaders for the Lumberjacks include; Danil Gushchin (22), Cameron Berg (19), Rhett Pitlick (16), Christophe Fillion (14), and Alex Gaffney (14). Following tonight’s matchup against the Storm, Muskegon’s returns home to host the Sioux City Musketeers next weekend in back to back games.

 

Tonight’s game is a new event on the Storm’s promotional calendar this year, “Dog Night” where fans are encouraged to bring their dogs with them to help cheer on the Storm! All dogs visiting the Viaero Center for tonight’s game must be on a leash at all times. Proceeds from the game will benefit the Kearney Area Animal Shelter. Drink specials will be featured throughout the night. $1 Soda Pop Cans, $2 Busch Light Cans (12oz, while supplies last), and $3 Bud Light Cans (16oz) will be available for purchase. Following the game, fans will get the opportunity to meet their favorite Storm player as the Viaero Center will host a post-game skate with the team.
