Kearney, NE. – The Tri-City Storm has announced changes to its Hockey Operations department that will take effect immediately, and that will strengthen the organization’s ability to continue to develop elite hockey players. The Tri-City Storm is pleased to announce that Jason Koehler has been promoted to General Manager, and Anthony Noreen has been promoted to President of Hockey Operations/Head Coach. Koehler, who signed a multiyear contract with the Storm, becomes the ninth General Manager in the organization’s twenty-year history. Koehler will supervise the hockey operations department, including all matters relating to player personnel, coaching staff, and scouting department.
Jason Koehler was hired by the team on August 28th after spending the past ten seasons with the Youngstown Phantoms. Through his first 139 regular season games with the organization, Noreen has a record of 81-46-7-5.
Koehler and Noreen worked together for five seasons in the Youngstown Phantoms organization (2010-2015). During that time, Youngstown won its first and only Anderson Cup Championship. “We are please to have Jason Koehler assume the role as our next General Manager. His previous experience as a GM in the USHL and his long-term relationship with Anthony will make this transition seamless. Locking Jason to a multiyear deal was priority number one, and it puts the Storm in a great position for many years.” President of Business Operations Mark Jalcovik
