Fargo, ND – The Tri-City Storm surrendered a goal with 57 seconds left in the 3rd period and fell to the Fargo Force by a final score of 3-2 Saturday night at Scheels Arena in Fargo, ND. Benji Eckerle scored both of the Storm’s goals in the loss. Tri-City’s four game win streak came to end, and the team now returns home to the Viaero Center in Kearney for the first time in four games for a home series against the Des Moines Buccaneers on Friday and Saturday. Kaden Bohlsen scored on Fargo’s first shot of the game just over a minute into the 1st period to give the Force a 1-0 lead over the Storm. The goal was Bohlsen’s third of the season and was scored at 1:17 of the 1st period. Tri-City tied the game just over halfway through the period on Benji Eckerle’s fourth goal of the year. The goal was scored at 10:05 of the 1st period and was assisted by Nicholas Donato and Andrius Kulbis-Marino. Tri-City outshot Fargo 10-9, and the 1st period ended in a 1-1 tie.
With less than five minutes to go in the 2nd period, Benji Eckerle scored his second goal of the night and fifth goal of the year to give the Storm a 2-1 lead. Eckerle’s goal was scored at 15:40 of the 2nd period and was assisted by Joe Berg and Ian Murphy. The goal was scored on the power play and gave Tri-City a one goal lead entering the 3rd period. Tri-City outshot Fargo 9-6 in the 2nd period.
Fargo tied the game on a goal by Mason Salquist at 8:39 of the 3rd period. The goal was his second of the season and was assisted by Alex Nordstrom and Jack Robilotti. With under one minute to play, the Force broke the 2-2 tie on a goal from Alex Nordstrom. The goal was scored at 19:03 of the 3rd period and was the game winning goal. Fargo outshot Tri-City 11-5 in the 3rd period and 26-24 in the game.
After playing its last four games on the road, Tri-City returns home for a two-game series against the Des Moines Buccaneers on Friday and Saturday. The weekend is headlines by the Storm’s annual Military Appreciation Night game on Saturday.
