Ralston, NE. – The Tri-City Storm return to action in the I-80 Showcase preseason event tonight at 8:00pm in a matchup against the Lincoln Stars. The game will serve as a rematch from the two team’s first preseason meeting one week ago at the Viaero Center. Tri-City defeated Lincoln 6-4 in the opening game of the preseason, and enters tonight’s game with a 2-0 record following yesterday’s 4-3 defeat of the Des Moines Buccaneers. Asa Kinnear scored twice in yesterday’s win, and Daniel Allin recorded the win in goal.
Tri-City (2-0) is averaging five goals per game through the opening two games of its six-game exhibition schedule. Preseason goal scorers for the team include; Asa Kinnear, Carter Mazur, Cody Sherman, Nick Capone, John Lundy, Tyler Coffey, and Andrius Kulbis-Marino. Goaltenders Noah Giesbrecht and Daniel Allin have each recorded a win in net. Only the Des Moines Buccaneers (13) have scored more goals than the Storm (10) to this point in the preseason. Last weekend, Tri-City outshot Lincoln 44-32 in the opening game of the preseason. In six preseason games last year, the Storm’s highest shots on goal total for a single game was 32 (Sept. 15, 2018 vs. Sioux Falls). Tomorrow, Tri-City will conclude play at the 2019 I-80 Showcase with a noon matchup against the Omaha Lancers. The Storm will travel to Ralston, NE to battle the Lancers again on Friday, September 20th before playing the final game of the preseason on Saturday, September 21st against Omaha at the Viaero Center.
Lincoln (0-1) will look to avenge last Saturday’s preseason opening loss to Tri-City in tonight’s rematch. Brayden Nicholetts, Ty Glover, Dalton Norris, and Christophe Fillion recorded goals for the Stars in the loss. Tonight’s game is the first of two games the Stars will play in this weekend’s I-80 Showcase. Lincoln will battle Sioux Falls tomorrow at 4pm before completing its four-game exhibition schedule Friday night at the Ice Box in Lincoln in a matchup with the Sioux City Musketeers. The Stars power play was held scoreless one week ago at the Viaero Center, going 0/4 in the preseason’s opening game. Tonight’s game is the last head to head matchup against the Storm for the Stars until the team hosts Tri-City at the Ice Box in Lincoln on November 30th in the Storm’s 21st game of the 2019-2020 regular season.
