Overview:

  • Following a strong season in the BCHL, the Storm’s Phase II first-round pick arrives for his first full season playing in the United States. 

Before the Storm:

  • 2016-17: In his second season with the Merritt Centennials, scored 14 goals and 30 points in 34 games, the most points per game of any player. Led the team with nine goals and 16 points in 11 games during the BCHL Playoffs.
  • 2015-16: Named Merritt’s Rookie of the Year. Scored 17 goals and 27 points in 52 games in his first BCHL season. After the season, the Storm drafted Ward in the 6th round, 101st overall.  
  • 2014-15: Skated with the Thompson Blazers (BCMML), scoring 14 goals and 27 points.  

Personal: 

  • Committed to Denver in December 2016.
  • Drafted by the Storm twice, in 2016 and 2017. The Storm had two first-round picks (#7 and #8 overall) and used their first pick on Ward. Filip Larsson was drafted 8th overall.
  • Former Storm Head Coach and General Manager Bill Muckalt played for Merritt. Muckalt is one of 11 former Centennials to play in the NHL.
  • Eleven players from Kamloops have made the NHL.
