MIDDLETON NETS TWO DESPITE LOSS TO FARGO, 4-2
Tri-City forward Davey Middleton scores two goals in first period

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Tri-City Storm got off to a great start in the first period of the Fall Classic opener against the Fargo Force, as C Davey Middleton scored two goals in the first period. However, the Storm would fall 4-2 on the first day of the tournament.
 
Middleton scored the opening goal for Tri-City (2-1-0 in preseason) 55-seconds into the first period on a setup by Brad Schierhorn. Schierhorn would setup Middleton for the second goal at the 10:41 mark in the period, which gave the Storm a 2-0 lead.
 
Former Tri-City forward, Luke Sandler would cut the Storm lead in half on his first goal of the preseason at the 17:45 mark for Fargo (1-0-0 in preseason).
 
After a scoreless second period, the Force would finally tie the game in the third period on Jonny Brodzinski’s goal at the 12:22 mark from Bryn Chyzyk. Austin Farley’s power play goal with less than a minute left in regulation gave Fargo the lead, as Alex Iafallo would add an empty-net goal with 32-seconds left in the game.
 
Storm goalie Jacob Meyers made 32 saves on 35 shots in the loss, while Zane Gothberg made 22 saves on 24 shots in the win for the Force.
 
Tri-City went 0-for-1 on the power play, while going 6-for-7 on the penalty kill.
 
The Storm will will play in the Tyson Events Center against the defending Clark Cup Champion – Dubuque Fighting Saints on Thursday night (7:00 p.m. – The Breeze 94.5 FM) and the two-time defending Eastern Conference Champion – Green Bay Gamblers on Friday afternoon (1:00 p.m. – Classic Hits 98.9 FM).
 
Notes: The Storm did not play forwards Nick Lappin, Tim Lappin and Andrew Dorantes, while defenseman Dylan Maller, Dalton Spicer, and goalies Pheonix Copley and Adam Miller were also not in the game… The Storm are 13 –for-14 on the penalty kill in the preseason
