Tri-City Goalie Adam Miller earns 31-save shutout, Storm win 2-0

Thursday, September 15, 2011
- Game Summary

Storm defenseman J.D. Peterson fights Lincoln forward Ryan Cole in the first period of Thursday's preseason game
KEARNEY, Neb. – The Tri-City Storm needed only one goal to seal a victory over the Lincoln Stars, as Storm goaltender Adam Miller earned a preseason shutout after making 31 saves.

Tri-City (1-0-0 in preseason) got the game’s first goal on an unassisted tally by RW Michael Vecchione, who scored the goal after making slick move through the left circle to the slot and scored over the shoulders of Lincoln goalie Charles Williams at the 5:59 mark in the first period.

After a scoreless second period, Lincoln (0-1-0 in preseason) would outshoot the Storm 18-7 in the third period. However, Miller was solid in the crease and made all the saves before C Soren Jonzzon would score an empty-net goal with 25-seconds left to ensure the win.

The Stars split time in the crease between Williams and Sean Healy, as Williams picked up the loss with 13 saves on 14 shots, and Healy finished the game with 10 saves on 10 shots.

Tri-City went 0-for-3 on the power play, while going 2-for-2 on the penalty kill.

The Storm will host their final home preseason game against the Omaha Lancers before the Fall Classic in Sioux City on Friday night at the Viaero Event Center.

Notes: The Storm did not play forwards Nick Lappin, Heikki Liedes and Justin Henry, while defenseman Dylan Maller, Dalton Spicer, Greg Johnson, and goalies Jacob Meyers and Phoenix Copley were also not in the game… Lincoln sat out forwards Teemu Tiitinen, Jared Hanson, Brent Tate, Dominic Shine, Jon Grebosky and defensemen Dax Lauwers… Lincoln goalie Jackson Teichroeb was also not in the game due to a delay in arrival with the team
