KEARNEY, Neb. – After being away from Kearney for a year, former Tri-City Storm forward Jaden Schwartz will attend Friday night’s preseason game against the Omaha Lancers at the Viaero Event Center.
Schwartz will be on hand for an in-arena interview during the first intermission, which will be followed by him signing autographs and shaking hands with fans for 10 minutes by the Storm tent in section S on the concourse. Also, he will join the Storm Radio Network broadcast in the second intermission for interview, which will also be uploaded on the Inside the Booth page on StormHockey.com under the Audio Vault.
Schwartz, who played for the Storm in the 2009-10 season, is preparing for his sophomore season at Colorado College. In his lone season with Tri-City, the native of Wilcox, Sask. set 14 team records and was the first player in the history of the Storm to be selected as the United States Hockey League Forward of the Year in 2010.
Following his 83 point (33 goals, 50 assists) season with the Storm, Schwartz was drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the first round (14th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
Schwartz played for Canada’s World Junior Team that won the silver medal last winter. However, he was unable to finish the tournament after just two games due to a fractured ankle in the game against the Czech Republic.
Despite missing more than six weeks of his freshman season at Colorado College, Schwartz accumulated 47 points (17 goals, 30 assists) in 30 games and added 14 points (4 goals, 10 assists) in seven playoff games last season. He was named to the WCHA All-Rookie team and named the INCH Rookie of the Year in the NCAA.
