KEARNEY, Neb. – New promotions that include “Pink in the Rink” Night, a visit by 1980 USA Gold Medalist goalie Jim Craig, “NASCAR Night,” “World Record Night,” and “Mechanical Bull Weekend,” headline the Tri-City Storm’s 2011-2012 promotions calendar.
The season will be filled with unique and fun opportunities for fans of all ages at the Viaero Event Center during all 30 Storm home games. In addition to new theme nights, the Storm will be bringing back some fan favorite game night events that have developed into highly attended games.
The season will kick off with the “World’s Largest T-shirt Toss” on Friday, September 30. Over 1,000 T-shirts will be tossed to fans attending the home opener.
Highlighting the early part of the season is the October 15 “Pink in the Rink” night, where the Storm will be coloring the ice with a pink tint in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Craig, who led the USA men’s ice hockey team to their second and latest gold medal in the Winter Olympics, will sign autographs the following week on October 21.
Other new promotional dates include:
January 14 – “Teddy Bear Toss” with new teddy bears being collected and donated to a charitable cause.
January 20-21 – “Mechanical Bull Weekend” with fans in attendance getting the chance to ride the bull for free.
January 28 – “World Record Night” attempting to break the Guinness World Record with the world’s largest kazoo ensemble, as the Storm will be giving away free kazoos.
February 18 – “NASCAR Night,” where the two popular sports collide on the same night.
March 3 – “Lap Dog Races” with dog owners having a chance to enter their dogs in a race on the ice during the first intermission.
Returning theme nights include “Stormy’s Birthday Game” on December 10, “New Year’s Eve Party” on December 31, “Pack It In Purple” on February 25, and “Fan Appreciation” on April 7. Also, there will be repeat theme nights, which include dollar-beer games, Coca-Cola “Buck Nights,” Midway “Shoot for a Car” games, and the free “Rockin’ Runza Post-Game Skate” following 14 home games.
There will be a series of giveaway nights throughout the season that includes T-shirts, magnet schedules, Beanie hats, Storm 2012 Calendars and specialty hockey pucks.
