- For Immediate Release

KEARNEY, Neb. – USA Hockey announced the U.S. Under-17 Select Team roster and making the 22-man squad are two future Tri-City Storm players.

Forwards Trevor Moore and Dan Labosky, who were both drafted by the Storm in the 2011 USHL Futures Draft, earned a spot on the team last Friday that will compete August 9-13 in the 2011 Under-17 Five Nations Tournament in Ann Arbor, Mich.

“What a great achievement it is for a couple of our prospects to make this distinguished team,” said Storm GM/Head Coach Drew Schoneck. “We are very happy for Trevor and Dan and wish them all the best in their preparations for the tournament later this summer.”

Dan Labosky of Benilde-St. Margaret's was a 2011 USHL Futures Draft pick of Tri-City
Labosky, who enters his junior year at Benilde-St. Margaret’s in Minnesota, finished last season with 46 points (10 goals, 36 assists) in 29 games, which earned him a fourth-round selection by the Storm in USHL Futures Draft this past April. However, he’s excited about the opportunity to play alongside Moore – who was selected in the first round of the same draft – with Team USA and eventually the Storm.

“I’m definitely looking forward to playing with Trevor,” said Labosky. “I had a chance to play with him in the All-Star game at the Select camp and got to know him a little bit better. He can distribute the puck and plays a lot like me. I’m looking forward to playing with him in Tri-City down the road.”

Moore will play with the Storm this season after playing last season with the LA Selects U16 team that went a nation’s best 32-3-0 and were Regional Champions. He led the LA Selects in scoring with 41 points (19 goals, 22 assists) in 35 games last season.

The Under-17 Five Nations Tournament includes: Czech Republic, Germany, Slovakia, Switzerland and the United States. Out of the 22 players on the U.S. roster, Minnesota leads the way with five players represented, while California has the second most with four players.

“The tournament will be a good experience to get to know a lot of guys and a chance to compete against players from Europe,” said Labosky.

“It’s a great honor to represent your country and try to go out and win gold.”
