- Game Summary

KEARNEY, Neb. – On a night when the Tri-City Storm entered the game knowing it was the final one of the season, the Lincoln Stars’ John McCarron spoiled the atmosphere for the sellout crowd scoring the game-winning goal with 32-seconds left in regulation to lead the Stars to a 3-2 win over the Storm.

Tri-City (19-30-11, 49 pts – 8th in Western Conference) got the game’s first goal for the second night in a row from Daniil Zharkov, who scored his eighth of the season from Darik Angeli and Rick Pinkston at the 11:33 mark in the first period.

Lincoln (33-22-5, 71 pts – 5th in Western Conference) scored with 1:29 left in the first period to tie the game, as Zachary Aston-Reese scored his second goal of the season from Dominick Shine and Rasmus Juell.

The Stars took the lead in the second period on Matt Prapavessis 10th goal of the season at the 8:43 mark from Sam Alfieri and Shine.

With the Storm trailing entering the third period, Cody Murphy scored his 11th goal of the season from Dan Kolomatis and Cole Gunner just six-minutes into the final period tying the game at 2-2.

However, McCarron scored his 24th of the season to prevent the game from going to overtime, and also extended the Storm winless streak to 12 games to close out the season.

Storm goalie Christopher Holden (9-13-6), who played his final junior game of his career, made 24 saves on 27 shots in the loss, while Kevin Murdock (29-15-4) made 31 saves on 33 shots in the win for Lincoln.

Tri-City went 0-for-3 on the power play, while going 6-for-6 on the penalty kill.

The Storm finished the 2010-11 season in front of 4,301 fans in attendance on Saturday night at the Viaero Event Center.

Notes: The Storm finished the season 1-6-1 against Lincoln… Tri-City was 0-27-4 this season when trailing after two periods… the Storm have 11 players eligible to return who are not committed to NCAA Division I schools
