- Game Summary

KEARNEY, Neb. – It took 35 games into the regular season for Tri-City Storm defenseman Dan Kolomatis to register his first two goals of the season, as he scored both in the second period in the shootout loss to the Omaha Lancers on Friday night.

The Lancers (27-13-6, 60 pts – 2nd in Western Conference) scored back-to-back power-play goals in each the first and second period, as Ryan Daugherty scored his 12th of the season with 1:46 left in the first period, and Ben Marshall tallied his sixth of the season 9:05 into the second period.

Tri-City (18-19-10, 46 pts), who is now in seventh place in the Western Conference, got the two Kolomatis goals less than six minutes apart. Kolomatis’ first goal was on the power play, while his second was an even-strength goal.

Omaha took another two goal lead early in the third period with Seth Ambroz and Bryce Johnson scoring back-to-back goals 1:58 apart to give the Lancers 4-2 advantage less than five minutes into the third period.

However, the Storm rallied again to tie the game with two goals in a 29-second duration beginning at the 9:59 mark into the third period on Soren Jonzzon’s team-leading 14th goal of the season. Kenny Brooks would tie the game shortly after Jonzzon’s goal on quick shot from the left-side of the net coming from behind the Lancers goal for his eighth of the season.

The Storm would force extra-time against the Lancers for the fifth time this season in seven meetings, however would fall 3-1 in the shootout. Jonzzon scored the lone-Storm goal in the shootout with Omaha getting goals from Johnson, Jonathan Liau, and Ambroz.

Storm goalie Christopher Holden (9-8-5) made 29 saves on 33 shots in the shootout loss. Lancers goalie John Keeney was pulled to start the third period after making 15 saves on 17 shots in through two periods, while Todd Mathews (12-5-3) made 12 saves on 14 shots earning the win.

Tri-City finished the game 1-for-2 on the power play, while going 4-for-6 on the penalty kill.

The Storm will wrap up its seven-game home stand Saturday night against the Sioux Falls Stampede at the Viaero Event Center. Tri-City is currently 1-3-2 on the home stand and will finish the season playing eight of the final 12 games on the road.

Notes: The Storm home record went to 12-7-6 … Tri-City is 1-10 in extra-time games against the Western Conference… Storm were still without defenseman Rick Pinkston due to injury
