STORM DOMINATE FARGO IN SHOTS, NOT GOALS
Tri-City can’t gain ground on sixth-place Des Moines, lose 3-1

FARGO, ND – The Tri-City Storm outshot the Fargo Force in each period on Friday night and overall 35-22, but couldn’t put more than one goal behind goalie Ryan Massa in the 3-1 loss. It was the fourth-consecutive loss for the Storm, who remain five points out of a playoff spot in the Western Conference.
 
Fargo (30-19-4, 64 pts – 3rd in Western Conference) took a quick 2-0 lead on back-to-back goals scored by Tyler Maugeri on the power play at the 8:31 mark, and Nicolas Stoskopf with 2:36 left in the first period. However, the Storm outshot the Force 8-6 in the opening 20-minutes.
 
Tri-City (19-23-10, 48 pts – 8th in Western Conference) continued to outshoot Fargo 16-9 in the second period, however gave up another goal to the Force’s Jimmy Mullin to go down to 3-0 through two periods.
 
Soren Jonzzon scored the Storm’s lone-goal on the power play early in the third period for his 16th of the season, which was unassisted with traffic in front of the Fargo goal.
 
Storm goalie Scott Diebold (10-13-3) dropped his third-straight start making 19 saves on 22 shots, while Massa (17-7-3) made 34 saves, and improved his lifetime record against the Storm to 6-1-0.
 
Tri-City went 1-for-8 on the power play, while going 5-for-6 on the penalty kill.
 
The Storm play the Force again on Saturday night in Fargo before returning next Friday night to the Viaero Event Center against the Sioux City Musketeers.
 
Notes: The Storm were down to three natural defenseman with Dean Burggrabe out due to an injury from practice on Thursday morning… In addition to forward Kenny Brooks, Tri-City moved Cole Gunner and Matt Johnson to defense throughout the game to assist in the defensive numbers
