STORM RALLY AGAINST SIOUX FALLS, WIN 5-2
Tri-City registers a season-high 53 shots, 24 shots in first period

KEARNEY, Neb. – A season-high 53 shots on goal, including a USHL season-high 24 shots in the first period, led the Tri-City Storm past the Sioux Falls Stampede 5-2. The Storm trailed 2-1 after two periods, however for the second time in three weeks came from behind in the third period to secure another win against Sioux Falls.
 
After a scoreless first period, Sioux Falls (13-24-3, 29 pts – 8th in Western Conference) would open the scoring on LW Kyle Rankin’s tip-in goal from D Mark Solyankin at the 8:15 mark in the second period.
 
Tri-City (17-25-0, 34 pts – 7th in Western Conference) scored 53-seconds later on C Brian Ward’s first of two goals in the game from D J.D. Peterson and LW Jared Linnell. Peterson would end the game with a career-high plus-4 rating for the Storm.
 
However, the Stampede would breakthrough on the power play with 2:06 remaining in the second period on LW Bryan Moore’s fifth goal of the season from D Joseph Lordo and G Charlie Lindgren. The assist by Lindgren was his third of the season.
 
In the third period, D Dylan Maller would score for the Storm on a 5-on-3 power play at the 6:26 mark to tie the game at 2-2. LW Trevor Moore and LW Brad Schierhorn earned the assists on Maller’s third goal of the season, which have all been scored on the power play.
 
Less than two minutes following the tying goal, LW Joshua Henke would score his fourth goal of the season and first-career game-winning goal from C Heikki Liedes to give the Storm their first lead of the game.
 
Ward second goal of the game would increase the Storm lead with 3:08 remaining in the game, as LW Thomas Nykopp and RW Michael Vecchione would assist on Ward’s fourth goal in his ninth game of the season. Nykopp added an empty-net goal with a 1:10 left in the third period after getting setup by C Nick Lappin and RW Kenny Brooks.
 
G Adam Wilcox (15-12-0) quietly made 29 saves on 31 shots, including 18 saves in the final period earning the win for the Storm, while Lindgren (7-13-1) made a career-high 48 saves on 52 shots receiving the loss for the Stampede.
 
Tri-City finished the game 1-for-5 on the power play, while going 3-for-4 on the penalty kill.
 
The Storm play Saturday night at home against the Lincoln Stars. ESPN Superstation 1460/1550 AM will air the game with the Viaero Wireless Pre-Game Show starting at 6:45 p.m.
 
Notes:  The Storm are 3-2-0 against Sioux Falls in the regular-season series… The Storm are now 4-16-0 when allowing the first goal, as three of the four wins are against Sioux Falls… Tri-City improved to 2-17-0 when trailing after two periods this season… Storm LW Jared Linnell extended his point streak to four-games… Trevor Moore led the Storm with eight shots on goal… D Bryan Sinz had a plus-3 rating in the game… The Storm are 3-for-10 on the power play in the past two games
