KEARNEY, Neb. –
Twelve Tri-City Storm hockey players and additional members of the team's front office staff joined other community volunteers Monday and Tuesday to distribute beds as part of Slumberland Furniture's "Making Homes for the Holidays" campaign.

Storm players loaded trucks with 52 bed frames, mattresses and box spring sets and helped deliver the items to area familys in need.  The players delivered and set up the bends in Kearney on Monday and Grand Island Tuesday.

In addition to the beds, children also were given stuffed bears and handmade quilts, which were donated by Piece Makers Quilt Guild of the Third City Christian Church.   Slumberland also partnered with Exchange Bank, the S.A.F.E. Center, My Bridge Radio, Families C.A.R.E., the Crisis Center, Crossroads Homeless Shelter, Hope Harbor and the Grand Island Public Schools Outreach Program.

Slumberland's Kearney and Grand Island stores are owned by Gayle Bonnes and her husband, Jason, along with Brandon and Alycia Packer.
