WILCOX EARNS 3-0 SHUTOUT WIN AGAINST OMAHA
Tri-City ends the 2011 calendar year 19-30-6, on two-game winning streak

KEARNEY, Neb. – Goalie Adam Wilcox registered his first shutout with the Tri-City Storm making 34 saves in the 3-0 win against the Omaha Lancers. It was the third shutout of the season for Wilcox, who also earned his 10th win of the season and third with the Storm.
After a scoreless first period, Tri-City (11-17-0, 22 pts – 7th in Western Conference) for the ninth-consecutive game scored the first goal at the 2:46 mark in the second period on LW Thomas Nykopp’s fifth goal of the season from LW/C Brad Schierhorn and D Desmond Bergin.
The Storm would increase their second period lead with 1:23 left in the period, as RW Kenny Brooks jammed away at a loose puck in the crease for his ninth goal of the season from Bergin and RW Michael Vecchione.
LW Trevor Moore would add a power-play goal at the 18:01 mark in the third period to close the game. RW Joshua Henke would earn his third assist in two nights after stripping the Lancer player from the puck at the blue line and sending it to Moore in front of the goal.
It was the third time Omaha (15-10-2, 32 pts – 2nd in Western Conference) has been shutout this season.
Wilcox (10-6-0) made 15 saves in the final period in route to his fourth-career shutout. G Alex Lyon (11-8-2) finished the game with 26 saves on 29 shots receiving the loss for the Lancers.
Tri-City went 1-for-5 on the power play, while going 7-for-7 on the penalty kill.
The Storm are on the road next weekend in Green Bay and Cedar Rapids. The game Friday in Green Bay will be on The Breeze 94.5 FM, while Saturday’s game in Cedar Rapids will air on Classic Hits 98.9 FM with the Viaero Wireless Pre-Game Shows starting at 6:45 p.m. each night.
