FARLEY’S HAT TRICK LEADS FARGO PAST STORM, 7-5
Tri-City gets five goals, but allows seven goals for the first time this season

WEST FARGO, N.D. – A wild first period would lead to a flurry of goals on Friday night at Scheels Arena, as the Tri-City Storm would lose to the Fargo Force 7-5.
Fargo (5-11-3, 13 pts – 7th in Western Conference) would jump out to a quick 2-0 lead on goals from RW Austin Farley and RW Jonny Brodzinski. Farley’s 12th goal of the season was scored on the power play at the 4:04 mark, while Brodzinski scored his third goal of the season at the 8:32 mark.
Tri-City (6-12-0, 12 pts – 8th in Western Conference) would score on their second power play of the game on the sixth goal of the season for LW Trevor Moore from C Nick Lappin and D Bryan Sinz. Moore’s goal would extend his goal streak to four games and point streak to five games.
One minute and 32 seconds after a goal by Force LW Alex Iafallo, the Storm would get back within one on LW Heikki Liedes’ fifth goal of the season from C Tim Bonner.
The Storm would tie the game on the power play in the second period on Nick Lappin’s team-leading 11th goal of the season from Moore and D Tyler Amburgey at the 5:38 mark.
Tri-City took the lead 7:25 into the third period on the second goal of the game and sixth of the season for Liedes, as RW Kenny Brooks and D John Hrabovsky picked up the assists. It was the first-career USHL point for Hrabovsky.
However, the Force would score three-straight goals to regain a one goal lead on goals by D Brian Cooper, Iafallo and Farley. Farley’s goal was scored on the power play 13:30 into the final period that stood up as the game-winning goal.
RW Tim Lappin would pull the Storm back within one goal with under five minutes left in the game on his first-career USHL goal from Moore and D Josh McArdle. The assist by Moore would give him his first-career three-point game.
Farley would add an empty-net goal with 36.6 seconds remaining in the game for his third goal of the night and team-leading 15th of the season.
Storm G Adam Wilcox (8-4-0) made a total of 27 saves on 33 shots in the loss for the Storm, while G Zane Gothberg (4-7-2) finished the game with 27 saves on 32 shots picking up the win for the Force.
Tri-City went 2-for-4 on the power play, while going 2-for-4 on the penalty kill.
The Storm will play the Force again on Saturday night at Scheels Arena. The Breeze 94.5 FM will air Saturday’s game with the Viaero Wireless Pre-Game Show will starting at 6:45 p.m.
