STORM GO TO USHL BREAK ON 3-GAME WINNING STREAK
Tri-City gets two goals from C Tim Bonner, move into seventh place in West

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Tri-City Storm ended the first-half of the USHL season on a high note by beating the Sioux City Musketeers 3-1 and extended a season-high three-game winning streak. The Storm victory also moves them into seventh place in the Western Conference and four points back of fourth place in the log jammed conference.
 
Tri-City (9-16-0, 18 pts – 8th in Western Conference) scored just 3:28 into the first period on a unassisted goal by C Tim Bonner, which was his first of two goals.
 
The Storm added another goal 3:54 into the second period on RW Kenny Brooks’ eighth goal of the season, as C Nick Lappin and LW Trevor Moore earned the assists on the eventual game-winning goal. Brooks now has 16 points (5g, 11a) in 16 career games against the Musketeers.
 
Sioux City (11-14-0, 22 pts – 4th in Western Conference) finally solved Storm G Pheonix Copley late in the game with two-minutes left in regulation, as LW Maxim Gaudreault scored his sixth goal of the season with an extra-attacker on the ice.
 
Bonner would seal the game with an empty-net goal with 50-seconds left in regulation to cap the scoring. It would be Bonner’s seventh goal of the season, and he now has five points (3g, 2a) in the last two games for the Storm.
 
Copley (7-10-0) made 28 saves on 29 shots in his third-consecutive win for the Storm, including 11 saves in the third period. Since committing to Michigan Tech University, Copley has only allowed 10 goals in seven games played. G Matt Skoff (9-9-0) finished the game with 22 saves on 24 shots receiving the loss for the Musketeers and is now 0-4-0 against the Storm this season.
 
Tri-City went 0-for-6 on the power play, but were a perfect 5-for-5 on the penalty kill.
 
The Storm will be off for the next 10 days and will return home to play the Des Moines Buccaneers at the Viaero Event Center on Wednesday, Dec. 28.  The game will on The Breeze 94.5 FM with the Viaero Wireless Pre-Game Show at 6:45 p.m.
 
Notes:  The Storm lead the season series 4-1-0 against the Musketeers and have outscored Sioux City 21-11 in the season series… Tri-City is now 8-7-0 when scoring the first goal and 8-1-0 when leading after two periods this season… Storm LW Heikki Liedes, D Dalton Spicer and RW Michael Vecchione all sat out of the game due to injuries… Copley has made 81 saves on 84 shots in the third period in the last seven games played
