STORM BLANKED BY STARS, LOSE 7-0 IN LINCOLN
Tri-City was shutout for the second time this season, lose five in a row

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Tri-City Storm couldn’t slow down a quick start by the Lincoln Stars on Tuesday night and fell 7-0 at the Ice Box. The Storm remain two points out of a playoff spot in the Western Conference following the loss.
 
Lincoln (20-11-2, 42 pts – 1st in Western Conference) scored two goals in under five-and-half minutes on goals by RW Will Suter and RW Brent Tate. The two goals allowed on four shots by G Adam Wilcox forced him out of the game in favor of G Pheonix Copley.
 
RW Luke Johnson and D Ralfs Freibergs would score two more goals in the second period to extend the Stars lead to 4-0. The goal by Freibergs 10:01 into the second period was his first goal in 11 games for Lincoln.
 
Former Storm, C Matt Friese scored two goals in the third period for the Stars. USHL-leading scorer LW Kevin Roy earned assists on both goals by Friese to increase his scoring total to 52 points (27g, 25a) on the season. Lincoln added another goal exactly one minute after Friese’s tally at the 16:46 mark, as RW Bob Kinne capped the seven goal performance by the Stars.
 
It was the second time this season Tri-City (11-22-0, 22 pts – 8th in Western Conference) was shutout in a game. The last time they were shutout was on Nov. 18 at Muskegon (2-0). The Storm would win the following night after getting blanked by the Lumberjacks in a 4-1 decision in Ann Arbor, Mich. against Team USA U18.
 
Wilcox (10-9-0) made two saves on four shots in the loss for the Storm, while Copley made 22 saves on 27 shots in relief of Wilcox. G Charles Williams (8-1-1) earned his second shutout of the season with 32 saves in the victory for the Stars.
 
Tri-City went 0-for-7 on the power play, while going 2-for-3 on the penalty kill.
 
The Storm are back home this weekend for a pair of games against the Waterloo Black Hawks. The Breeze 94.5 FM will air the game Friday night, while Classic Hits 98.9 FM will air Saturday’s game. The Viaero Wireless Pre-Game Shows start at 6:45 p.m. each night.
 
Notes:  The Storm are now 1-3-0 against the Stars this season… Tri-City is now 1-14-0 when allowing the first goal and 0-14-0 when trailing after two periods this season – The Storm’s last win when trailing after two periods was on Jan. 30, 2010 against Sioux City (3-1)… Tri-City is 0-47-4 since that date when trailing after two periods… Tri-City was without LW Thomas Nykopp (due to injury) for the third-straight game… During this five-game losing streak, the Storm are 0-for-22 on the power play, 11-for-18 (61.1-percent) on the penalty kill and have been outscored 31-7
