STORM CALMED BY LUMBERJACKS IN LOSS, 2-0
Tri-City was shutout for the first time this season, losing streak extends to eight

MUSKEGON, Mich. – For the first time in the three-game history of the all-time series, the Muskegon Lumberjacks earned their first win against the Tri-City Storm, as former Omaha Lancer goalie John Keeney earned the 2-0 shutout.
 
After a scoreless first period, Muskegon (7-6-0, 14 pts – 6th in Eastern Conference) scored the opening goal less than five minutes into the second period on C Travis Belohrad’s fifth goal of the season from D Alex Smith.
 
Tri-City (3-11-0, 6 pts – 8th in Western Conference) outshot the Lumberjacks 14-6 in the second period, but could not get a goal behind Keeney.
 
The Lumberjacks would add an empty-net goal with eight seconds left in the game on an unassisted goal by D Mark Yanis for his second of the season.
 
Goalie Pheonix Copley (3-9-0) ended the game with 30 saves on 31 shots in the loss for the Storm. Keeney (3-3-0) finished the game with 37 saves earning his third shutout victory of his career and first with Muskegon.
 
Tri-City went 0-for-5 on the power play, while only going 7-for-7 on the penalty kill.
 
It was the eighth consecutive loss for the Storm, who have fallen eight games below .500 during the streak.
 
The Storm will travel to Ann Arbor, Mich. for Saturday’s game against Team USA – U18. The Viaero Wireless Pre-Game Show will start at 5:45 p.m. on Classic Hits 98.9 FM.
 
Notes: The Storm are now 2-1-0 all-time against Muskegon…Tri-City is now 0-7-0 when allowing the first goal, which is the same record when trailing after two periods of play… The Storm are 0-34-4 when trailing after two periods dating back to the beginning of last season… Storm C Nick Lappin was out of the lineup due to an injury from last weekend’s games… It was the third lowest goals allowed this season for the Storm
