Storm prepare for their first three-in-three of the season this weekend

KEARNEY, Neb. – Trying to dump a four-game losing streak, the Tri-City Storm will attempt to break it this weekend with three games in three nights. The Storm will play Friday and Saturday on the road in Sioux City and Sioux Falls, and are home Sunday to play the Lincoln Stars for the first time this season.
 
This weekend starts a stretch where five of the next six games are on the road for Tri-City, as the Storm will travel to Michigan the following weekend for a pair of games at Muskegon and Team USA – U18.
 
Tri-City plays the Sioux City Musketeers on Friday night, which is where the Storm last earned a victory before the losing streak on Oct. 22 (7-3) in Sioux City. The Storm had five different players score multi-point games in the win, which included C Nick Lappin’s four points (3g, 1a). Lappin has five points (3g, 2a) in two games against Sioux City this season, as the Storm are 2-0-0 against the Musketeers.
 
Lappin is on a five-game point streak since the previous meeting against Sioux City. He has eight points (5g, 3a) in the last five games, as his line mate RW Kenny Brooks has six points (1g, 5a) in that stretch.
 
Brooks has 11 points (2g, 9a) and a plus-4 rating in 13 games all-time against Sioux City. The point total accounts for 25-percent of Brooks’ points in his USHL career.
 
Tri-City will travel to Sioux Falls the next day to play the Stampede for the second time this season. The Storm lost to the Stampede 3-2 last Saturday night, as the power play went 2-for-4 and the penalty kill was 3-for-3 for Tri-City. RW Michael Vecchione and C Adam Chlapik scored the power-play goals for the Storm, who outshot Sioux Falls 40-38.
 
On Sunday, the first meeting of the season between the Storm and Stars will take place at the Viaero Event Center. The Storm are 29-46-7 all-time against the Stars, and were only 1-6-1 against Lincoln last season. Over the past two seasons combined, Tri-City is 7-7-1 against the Stars, as Lincoln has outscored the Storm 48-41 in that span.
 
The Breeze 94.5 FM will air the games on Friday and Saturday night on the road, while Classic Hits 98.9 FM will air the game on Sunday from the Viaero Event Center. The Viaero Wireless Pre-Game Show will start at 6:45 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, as the pre-game show will start 4:45 p.m. on Sunday.

-       The Storm are led in points and goals by C Nick Lappin – 12 points (8g, 4a)…Lappin is on a five-game point streak with eight points (5g, 3a) in that stretch…He one game from his longest point streak in his career, which was set last season at six games – 3g, 7a – 10 pts – 2/22/11 – 3/15/11
-       G Pheonix Copley (3-6-0) has 2.92 GAA and .908 SV%...Copley has allowed 12 goals in the last four games played with a .915 SV%
-       Tri-City is only 3-3-0 when scoring the first goal…the Storm are 0-4-0 when allowing the opening goal to the opposition
-       The Storm are 1-4-0 in Friday games and 2-3-0 on Saturday games
-       Tri-City’s power play is 7-for-33 (21.2 % - ranked 10th) on the power play since scoring their first power play goal of the season…The power play is now 7-for-53 (13.2%) this season…the penalty kill improved to 83.3% (40-for-48 – ranked 8th) after going 14-for-14 on the PK in the last three games

-       The Musketeers recently (Monday) acquired C David Goodwin, defensemen Andy Ryan and Dan Molenaar from the Green Bay Gamblers for NHL draft prospect D Jordan Schmaltz and C Peter Maric…The three new Musketeer players played in the loss on Tuesday night to Lincoln…Goodwin registered an assist in his Musketeers debut and leads the team with 11 points (4g, 7a)…Goodwin is not committed to a NCAA Div. I school
-       G Matt Skoff (3-6-0) has 3.11 GAA and .913 SV%...Skoff has allowed only seven goals in the last four games played (including three goals in relief on Tuesday night loss to Lincoln 6-2) with a .915 SV%
-       The Musketeers have the third-worst defense in the USHL, allowing 3.91 goals per game…the offense is only ranked 12th in the USHL, averaging 2.45 GF/G
-       Sioux City is ranked 9th in the USHL on the power play going 6-for-45 (13.3%)…The Musketeers penalty kill is 45-for-52 (86.5%), which has them ranked 7th in the league
 
Saturday, Nov. 12 @ Sioux Falls Stampede – 4-4-1, 9 pts (4th in Western Conference)
-       Last game – Nov. 5 – 3-2 win vs. Tri-City Storm
-       C Todd Skirving leads the Stampede with six points (5g, 2a) in nine games this season…Skirving played in the BCHL last season with the Prince George Spruce Kings
-       RW/C Austyn Young has six points (3g, 3a) in seven games…Young, who missed last weekend, is playing at the World Junior A Challenge for Team USA and will miss this weekend’s games due to the tournament
-       The Stampede are third in the USHL in shots on goal, averaging 33.9 shots per game…however Sioux Falls is the third-worst team in shots against, allowing 33.9 shots/game
-       G Stephon Williams (3-2-1) has a 2.53 GAA in eight games played this season…Williams’ save-percentage is the seventh in the league at .921…Last season, Williams played in 35 games and posted a 20-7-6 record, 2.59 GAA, and .909 save-percentage
-       Sioux Falls is ranked last in the USHL on the power play going 3-for-38 (7.9%)…The Stampede penalty kill is 25-for-32 (78.1%), which has them ranked 13th in the league
 
Sunday, Nov. 13 vs. Lincoln Stars – 6-4-0, 12 pts (2nd in Western Conference)
-       Last game – Nov. 8 – 6-2 win @ Sioux City
-       Forward Kevin Roy leads the USHL with 10 goals and is tied for the league-lead in points with 17 (10g, 17)…Roy played at Deerfield Academy the past four seasons…Roy enters the weekend on a seven-game point streak after not scoring in his first three games
-       G Jackson Teichroeb(5-3-0) has a 2.23 GAA in eight games played this season, which ranks sixth in the USHL…Teichroeb’s save-percentage is .912…Last season, Teichroeb played in 32 games for the defending Clark Cup Champion – Dubuque Fighting Saints, posting a 14-6-5 record, 2.49 GAA, and .905 save-percentage
-       The Stars are third in penalty minutes per game (20.7 PIM/G) this season and have taken the fourth most minor (66) penalties in the league
