Preview: Storm set for battle against Black Hawks

Waterloo, IA. – The Tri-City Storm go for five wins in a row in today’s afternoon game against the Waterloo Black Hawks. Tri-City enters today’s game following back to back road wins against the Central Illinois Flying Aces on Friday and Saturday. Today’s game will feature the top two team’s in the Western Conference standings. Puck drop between the Storm and the Black Hawks is scheduled for 3:05pm at Young Arena in Waterloo, IA.

 

Tri-City (33-9-1-1) has won all three previous games in the season series against the Black Hawks and enters today’s game following back to back road wins against the Central Illinois Flying Aces. Today’s matchup against Waterloo is the fourth and final game in the regular season series. The Storm currently hold an eight-point lead over Waterloo for 1st place in the Western Conference standings. In last night’s win, Tri-City got goals from Ronnie Attard and Connor McMenamin (2), and Isaiah Saville notched his 17th win on the season in goal. Today’s game is the final game of a three-game weekend, the Storm will return home Friday night in a matchup against the Chicago Steel.

 

Waterloo (28-12-3-1) hosts Tri-City today for the 2nd and final time this season following a 2-1 road loss last night to the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders. The Blacks Hawks have matched the Storm’s record of 8-2 over the past 10 games and will protect a home record of 15-4-2-0 this afternoon at Young Arena. Today’s matchup will feature the top power play and the top penalty kill in the USHL. Waterloo’s power play has converted 53 times this season and is currently 27.7% on the year. Tri-City’s penalty kill has allowed only 21 power play goals in the 2018-2019 season and is ranked 1st in the USHL at 88.0%.
