Tri-City (26-8-1-1) returns to action tonight in Kearney following an emotional overtime victory last Saturday night over the Muskegon Lumberjacks. Khristian Acosta and Connor McMenamin netted goals in regulation time, and Filip Forsmark scored the game winning goal in overtime to lift the Storm over 1st place Muskegon. Tri-City hits the ice tonight as the 1st place team in the Western Conference standings, leading Waterloo by four points. The Storm’s penalty kill went to 1st place in the win over the Lumberjacks on Saturday night, and is now 87.3% on the season. Tonight’s game will be the beginning of a three-game weekend for the Storm, who will hit the road to face off against Des Moines and Sioux City following tonight’s home matchup against Youngstown. Tri-City began its 2018-2019 regular season campaign with a win over Youngstown on September 27th at the 2018 USHL Fall Classic at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania. Tonight, Tri-City looks for a season series sweep over the Phantoms following a 5-4 win in the season opener.

Youngstown (16-14-1-3) enters tonight’s game against the Storm as the 4th place team in the Eastern Conference standings. The Phantoms seek a victory at the Viaero Center for the first time since a 4-1 win over the Storm on November 19th, 2016. After dropping six games in a row to open the season, the Phantoms have continued to climb towards the top of the Eastern Conference and could finish the weekend as the 3rd place team in the conference standings. Youngstown has won 6 of its last 10 games and brings the league’s 2nd best power play to Kearney tonight. In its 5-4 season opening loss to Tri-City in September, the Phantoms fell behind 5-2 before netting back to back power play goals in the 3rd period to bring the game within one. Tonight’s game is also the first game of a three game weekend for the Phantoms, who will travel to Ralston to face off against the Omaha Lancers Saturday and Sunday.
