Storm set for Teddy Bear Toss/Sammy’s Superheroes Night

Kearney, NE. – The Tri-City Storm will play host to the Waterloo Black Hawks for the 2nd consecutive night tonight at the Viaero Center in Kearney. Last night, Tri-City posted a 3-0 shutout against the Black Hawks and took control of 1st place in the USHL league standings in the win. The Storm host the Sammy’s Superheroes Foundation tonight at the game. The team will wear specialty jerseys during the game, and Storm players will host members from the foundation throughout the night. The game worn specialty jerseys will be auctioned off following the game, and the team will also host a post-game skate for the public following the matchup against Waterloo. Tonight’s game is also the Storm’s annual Teddy Bear Toss. Fans are encouraged to bring a new or gently used Teddy Bear to tonight’s game and throw it on the ice after the Storm’s first goal. Tri-City (24-6-1-1) hits the ice tonight for the first time this season as the 1st place team in the USHL league standings. Ronnie Attard, Brendan Furry, and Zac Jones all scored in last night’s 3-0 shutout over Waterloo. Isaiah Saville made 38 saves in goal to record his 15th victory of the season. The Storm hold an 8-1-0-1 record over the past ten games and have now won nine of the last ten home games at the Viaero Center. Brendan Furry and Ronnie Attard each netted their team leading 11th goals of the season in last night’s win. Zac Jones recorded two assists in the Storm win, and currently leads all Tri-City skaters with 19 assists on the year. With a win tonight, Tri-City can clinch a season series victory against Waterloo for the first time since the 2014-2015 regular season.

 

Waterloo (19-9-3-1) was held off the scoreboard for the first time all season in last night’s 3-0 road loss to Tri-City. Tonight’s game will be the Black Hawks’ final game in Kearney during the regular season. Waterloo will host the Storm in the final game of the four game regular season series on Sunday, February 17th. Despite dropping last night’s game, Waterloo remains the 3rd place team in the Western Conference standings. The Black Hawks are currently five points back of 2nd place Des Moines, and three points ahead of 4th place Sioux Falls. Tonight’s game is the final game of the weekend for Waterloo, who will return home to Young Arena on Tuesday for a matchup against Sioux City.

 

Today’s game is set to begin at 7:05pm CT, and will be streamed live on HockeyTV, and Storm Radio.
