Storm shutout Omaha 3-0

Kearney, NE– The Tri-City Storm shutout rival Omaha Friday night at the Viaero Center by a final score of 3-0, and took over 1st place in the USHL’s Western Conference standings in the win. Tri-City got goals from Colby Ambrosio, Blais Richartz, and Asa Kinnear, and Isaiah Saville picked up his 3rd shutout of the season in net, stopping all 17 Lancers shots. The Storm improved to 13-4-1-0 on the season, and jumped from 3rd to 1st in the Western Conference standings.


The Storm and the Lancers battled through a scoreless 1st period with Tri-City outshooting Omaha 9-7. Colby Ambrosio broke the tie at the 12:57 mark of the 2nd period, scoring his 7th career goal, and 4th goal in the last two games. The goal was assisted by Zac Jones, and it ended up being the game winning goal as Tri-City held the Lancers off the board in the game. Tri-City added another goal at the 16:29 mark of the 2nd period as Blais Richartz increased the Storm lead by two. The goal by Richartz was assisted by Ruben Rafkin and Brad Morrissey. The Storm entered the 3rd period with a 2-0 lead.


Asa Kinnear buried an empty net goal to seal the win for Tri-City with under three minutes to go in the game. Kinnear’s goal was his 3rd of the season and was assisted by Ian Murphy. Isaiah Saville stopped all 17 shots faced during the game to record his 3rd shutout of the season in net. Saville improved to 9-2-1-0 on the season in 13 games played in the win. Tri-City now holds a four games to two season series lead over rival Omaha, and can clinch a regular season series victory against the Lancers in the team’s next meeting on December 29th at the Viaero Center.
