Storm down Black Hawks 2-1

Waterloo, IA– The Tri-City Storm downed the Waterloo Black Hawks by a final score of 2-1 Friday night at Young Arena in Waterloo, IA. Newly named Storm Captains Ronnie Attard and Connor McMenamin scored Tri-City’s goals and Isaiah Saville made 33 saves on 34 shots in net. Tri-City jumped from 4th to 2nd in the Western Conference standings in the win.

 

The Storm broke a scoreless tie midway through the 2nd period on a goal from Ronnie Attard at the 8:59 mark of the period. The goal was scored on the power play and was assisted by Ian Murphy and Zac Jones. Waterloo tied the game up with under two minutes to play in the period to set up a thrilling 3rd period. The Black Hawk’s only goal of the game was scored by Patrick Guzzo.

 

Connor McMenamin scored his 4th goal of the season at 9:57 of the 3rd period to give the Storm a 2-1 lead. The goal was assisted by Filip Forsmark and Tri-City held off a late 6 on 4 attack to win the game 2-1. The Storm finished the game a perfect 6 for 6 against the league’s top power play. Isaiah Saville was named 1st Star of the Game, and Connor McMenamin picked up 3rd Star honors.
