Storm travel to Waterloo for one game weekend

Waterloo, IA. – The Tri-City Storm visit Young Arena in Waterloo, IA tonight for the first matchup between the Storm and the Black Hawks of the 2018-2019 regular season. Both teams enter tonight’s game in the top four of the USHL’s Western Conference standings. Waterloo took three of four games from the Storm in last year’s season series. Tri-City will faceoff against Lincoln in a road matchup on Wednesday before returning home to the Viaero Center on Friday for a matchup against the Omaha Lancers.

 

Tri-City (10-4-1-0) visits Young Arena in Waterloo, IA for the first game of a four-game series against the Black Hawks this season. Tonight, the Storm seeks its first victory at Young Arena since the 2016 Clark Cup Playoffs. The Storm shutout the Black Hawks 3-0 on May 6th, 2016 in the Conference Semi-Final round of the playoffs. Tri-City currently trails 1st place Waterloo by one point, and could regain 1st place in the Western Conference standings with a lead over the Black Hawks tonight. Last week, Tri-City won two of its four games, and most recently dropped a game to Lincoln by a final score of 3-0. Tri-City’s 33 goals allowed are the least of any team in the USHL this season.

 

Waterloo (9-2-3-1) will protect home ice tonight as the 1st place team in the Western Conference standings. The Black Hawks will host the Lincoln Stars tomorrow night to complete a two-game weekend. Waterloo has won four of its last five games and returns home after a 3-2 overtime victory at Green Bay on Saturday. Matej Blumel currently leads the Hawks with 11 goals on the year. With 61 goals scored on the year, Waterloo is tied with Des Moines for the most goals scored by any team in the Western Conference.

 

Today’s game is set to begin at 7:05pm CT, and will be streamed live on HockeyTV, and Storm Radio. HockeyTV is a subscription based service that carries all Storm home and away games throughout the season.
