Storm defeat Stampede on Military Appreciation Night

Kearney, NE– The Tri-City Storm used four 3rd period goals to down the Sioux Falls Stampede at the Viaero Center on Saturday night. Tri-City trailed 1-0 after the 2nd period but put together a thrilling come from behind win on home ice on Military Appreciation Night. Keaton Pehrson, Ronnie Attard, and Ian Murphy netted 3rd period goals for Tri-City, and Isaiah Saville recorded the win in net. The Storm complete a three game weekend and a four game in six days stretch tomorrow at the Ice Box in Lincoln. The game is set to begin at 2:05pm. Tri-City returns home to the Viaero Center after three consecutive road games on Friday, November 23rd in a matchup against rival Omaha.

 

Sioux Falls broke a scoreless tie early in the 2nd period on a goal by Anthony Romano, assisted by Artem Ivanyuzhenkov, and Blake Bride. The Stampede carried a 1-0 lead into the 3rd period despite being outshot 15-9. The Storm offense broke out in the 3rd period and put three unanswered goals on the board. Keaton Pehrson netted his 2nd goal of the season at 1:57 of the 2nd period to tie the game. Pehrson’s goal was assisted by Filip Forsmark and Connor McMenamin. Ian Murphy scored his 1st goal of the night minutes later to give the Storm a 2-1 lead. Murphy’s goal was assisted by Joe Molenaar. At 12:26 of the 3rd period, Ronnie Attard scored his 2nd goal of the season to increase the Storm lead to three goals. Attard’s goal was assisted by Zac Jones, who picked up his team leading 8th assist on the goal. Sioux Falls answered back quickly, with a goal from Anthony Romano just 12 seconds later to bring the Stampede back to within one goal. The goal from Romano was his 2nd on the night and made it a 3-2 game with less than 8 minutes to go. Ian Muprhy sealed the win for Tri-City with an empty net goal set up by Connor McMenamin at the 19:48 mark of the 3rd period. The Storm outshot the Stampede 24-13 and treated the home fans to a 4-2 win.
