Posted 40 days ago ago by Kendall Grayson

Urbandale, IA. – The Tri-City Storm hit the road for the third consecutive game in tonight’s matchup against Western Conference foe Des Moines. Tonight’s game will be the fourth matchup of the season between the Storm and Buccaneers. Through three games, the Storm lead the seven game season series two games to one. Tri-City enters tonight’s game as the 1st place team in the USHL’s Western Conference standings with a record of 8-1-1 through ten games.

Tri-City (8-1-1) completes a three game road stretch tonight at Buccaneer Arena in Urbandale, IA. Last weekend, the Storm picked up four points in the standings with back to back shootout wins on the road against in state rivals Omaha & Lincoln. In both games, Tri-City trailed by one goal and battled back to force overtime. Colby Ambrosio and Zac Jones scored in both shootouts for the Storm. Jake Barczewski and Isaiah Saville backstopped Tri-City to victory in the back to back situation, and Isaiah Saville earned Goaltender of the Week honors in the USHL for the second time this season. The Storm will look to avenge its only regulation loss of the season tonight at Buccaneer Arena. The last time Tri-City travelled to Urbandale, it fell to Des Moines by a final score of 4-2.

Des Moines (7-4) will attempt to climb the Western Conference standings to within one point of the Storm in tonight’s game. The Buccaneers are currently 3rd in the Western Conference standings and are the only team to defeat Tri-City in regulation this season. After being shutout by Sioux City on October 23rd, the Buccaneers swept last weekend’s games, picking up wins against Green Bay & Omaha. In its last game, Des Moines gave up the tying goal in the 3rd period against Omaha, before lighting up the scoreboard with five goals in the game’s final ten minutes for an 8-3 win. The Buccaneers enter tonight’s game with a 4-1 record on home ice this season.
