Storm defeat rival Lancers 5-1

Ralston, NE. – The Tri-City Storm spoiled tonight’s home opener for the Omaha Lancers by scoring 5 unanswered goals to defeat rival Omaha 5-1. Blais Richartz, Ian Murphy, Jake Crespi, Asa Kinnear, and Joe Berg all scored goals in the Tri-City win. Isaiah Saville made 19 saves on 20 shots and picked up the win in goal for the Storm.


Omaha scored the game’s opening goal at 9:39 of the 1st period to take a 1-0 lead. The goal from Ryan Savage assited by Jaxon Nelson would be the game’s only goal for Omaha. Tri-City tied the game up less than two minutes later on Blais Richartz’s first goal of the season. The goal from Richartz at 11:00 was unassisted. With period less than half a minute to go in the game’s opening period, the Storm found additional offense and took a one goal lead. At the 19:43 mark of the period, Ian Murphy scored his 2nd goal of the season to give Tri-City a 2-1 lead entering the 2nd. Filip Forsmark and Brad Morrissey recorded assists on the goal. Shots were 7-7 in the opening 20 minutes.


Tri-City increased its lead to three goals with two 2nd period goals from Jake Crespi and Asa Kinnear. Crespi’s goal was scored at 4:25 of the 2nd period and was assisted by Brad Morrissey and Joe Molenaar. Kinnear’s goal was scored shorthanded at the 11:38 mark of the period and was assisted by Chase McLane. The Storm outshot the Lancers 8-7 in the 2nd period and carried a 4-1 lead into the 3rd period.


The Storm held the Lancers off the board in the 3rd period, and Joe Berg buried an empty net goal to give Tri-City a 5-1 win. Isaiah Saville picked up his 2nd career win in goal for Tri-City, and the Storm improved to 3-0 in the win.


Tri-City now looks ahead to next week’s game against the Des Moines Buccaneers. The matchup will take place at the Viaero Center in Kearney, NE on Friday. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05pm CT.
