Storm announce multiple transactions

Posted 84 days ago ago by Kendall Grayson

Kearney, NE. – The Tri-City Storm has announced two separate transactions prior to the final games of the preseason on Thursday and Friday. Tri-City has acquired forward Garrett Worth from the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders in exchange for forward Ben Almquist, and a conditional 2019 5th Round Phase II draft pick. The Storm have also acquired a 2020 8th Round Phase II draft pick from the Muskegon Lumberjacks in exchange for defenseman Daniel Hilsendager.

Garrett Worth, 19, of Duluth, MN, was selected 5th overall in the 2018 USHL Phase II draft by the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, and scored his first goal of the preseason Cedar Rapids’ 3-2 home loss to Dubuque on Saturday. Last season, Worth served as the Captain of Duluth East High School in Duluth, MN, and scored 42 goals in 28 games. He also provided the Greyhound offense with 22 assists and finished the season with 64 points. Worth also spent time with Team North of the Upper Midwest Elite League, scoring 14 goals and registering 12 assists. In addition to high school games, Worth also played in 14 games with the Minnesota Wilderness of the North American Hockey League (NAHL). He scored 6 goals during the regular season, and skated in all four playoff games for the Wilderness in the opening round of the 2018 Robertson Cup Playoffs.

“We have some tough decisions to make, both team wise and import wise, we felt that we had an opportunity to keep Daniel in the league, and get a future asset in return, so we felt that it was best for both sides.” – GM/Head Coach Anthony Noreen on today’s trade with Muskegon

“We felt that it was probably best for a change of scenery for Ben. He worked hard here, was a great teammate, and great person, and we feel that he will have a good opportunity in Cedar Rapids. Garrett Worth was a player who we discussed at length to take in the first round of this year’s draft, he’s got an ability to score big goals in big games, and we felt that this was also a fair trade for everyone involved” – GM/Head Coach Anthony Noreen on today’s trade with Cedar Rapids

The Storm return to action Thursday in a road preseason matchup against the Omaha Lancers. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05pm on the auxiliary rink at Ralston Arena in Ralston, NE.

Individual game and season tickets are on sale for the 2018-2019 regular season. Storm Tickets can be purchased online via StormHockey.com or KearneyEvents.net, or by contacting the Viaero Center box office at (308) 338-8144.
