Matt Holmes announces commitment to Brown

Kearney, NE. – Tri-City Storm draft pick Matt Holmes has announced a commitment to play college hockey at Brown University.  Holmes was drafted 170th overall in the 11th round of the 2018 USHL Phase II draft.   


Matt Holmes, 19, of Rye, New York skated in twenty eight games last season and scored thirteen goals for the Salisbury School Knights in Salisbury, Connecticut. He also registered twenty one assists for the Knights team who finished the 2017-2018 season with a record of 24-1-1. In addition to his time with Salisbury, Holmes appeared in twenty seven games last season with the Mid-Fairfield Rangers U18 program. He netted eight goals and recorded ten assists for the Rangers offense.

The Brown Bears men’s hockey program has appeared in four NCAA Tournament’s, and has reached the Frozen Four three times. Recent Brown alumni to reach the NHL include Bobby Farnham, Garnet Hathaway, and former Storm forward Nick Lappin.
