Posted 75 days ago ago by Kendall Grayson

Kearney, NE. – The Tri-City Storm has named Troy Thibodeau an Assistant Coach for the 2018-2019 season. Thibodeau most recently served as the Director of Hockey Operations for UMass Lowell.

Troy Thibodeau, of Danvers, MA, spent the last two seasons with UMass Lowell as Director of Hockey Operations. During his tenure, the River Hawks program went 44-30-3 during the 2016-2017 & 2017-2018 seasons. UMass Lowell captured a Hockey East Championship and an NCAA Tournament berth in 2017. As Director of Hockey Operations for UMass Lowell, Thibodeau coordinated team travel, oversaw team compliance and camps, and analyzed team video.

Prior to his time at UMass Lowell, Thibodeau served as a video coach for Merrimack College during the 2015-2016 season. Along with analyzing and breaking down video, he provided the Warriors program with advanced statistics and analytical data. Thibodeau spent the 2014-2015 season with the Wentworth Institute of Technology as an Assistant Coach. Before launching his coaching career, Thibodeau played three years of college hockey for the University of Southern Maine.

“From the first few conversations I had with the Tri-City staff, I could immediately feel their energy, passion, and commitment to the organization. It felt like a real team atmosphere, and a first class organization that places a huge emphasis on the development of its players. Joining the Storm staff gives me the opportunity to be around good people, and work with an age group of players who are in an important stage of their development process.” - Assistant Coach Troy Thibodeau

“We had a lot of interest from a lot of different people in the position. We tried to have as many conversations as possible with people in the hockey world in order to find the right person who embodied our values, worked tirelessly, and someone who is going to make both the members of our staff, and our players better. In talking with Troy, it didn’t take very long to realize he’s a special person, a relentless worker, and an elite person. He worked under two great coaching staffs at Merrimack, and UMass Lowell, and the people who have been around him speak the world of him. We believe Troy will be a tremendous addition to our organization this season.” - GM/Head Coach Anthony Noreen
