Kearney, NE – The Tri-City Storm battle the Omaha Lancers for the final time this season tonight at the Viaero Center. The Storm has dropped each of its last four games but remains only two wins away from a playoff berth. Tri-City will play four of its final five regular season games at home, beginning with tonight’s game.

Tri-City (29-22-2-2) enters tonight’s game needing only three points in the Western Conference standings to clinch a spot in the 2018 Clark Cup Playoffs. The Storm currently lead the Sioux City Musketeers by seven points for the 6th and final playoff spot in the Western Conference standings. Tri-City, Lincoln, and Sioux City are currently battling for the last two playoff spots in Western Conference. Waterloo, Fargo, Omaha, and Sioux Falls have all clinched a spot in this year’s playoffs. Tri-City returns home tonight following a 4-2 road loss to Sioux Falls on Saturday. The Storm got goals from Hugo Blixt and Filip Forsmark in the 1st period but allowed four consecutive goals in the 2nd and 3rd periods. Tri-City goaltender Jake Barczewski made 27 saves on 30 shots after stopping a career high 44 shots in Sioux City on Friday night. Barczewski enters tonight’s game with an overall record of 10-10-2-1.
Omaha (34-16-2-3) has already locked up a spot in the 2018 Clark Cup Playoffs and seeks to improve its playoff positioning in tonight’s game. The Lancers enter tonight’s game as the 3rd place team in the Western Conference standings with 73 points. Omaha is currently three points behind Waterloo for the top spot in the Western Conference. The Lancers still have an opportunity to clinch a first round bye by finishing 1st or 2nd place in the year’s conference standings. Along with clinching a playoff spot, the Lancers have also locked up the regular season series vs. the Storm. Cole Gallant scored his 11th goal of the season in overtime to down the Storm 2-1 in the two team’s last matchup on Sunday, March 25th. Omaha is 18-72-0 on the road this season and is seeking its 6th win in the 9 game season series vs. the Storm.
