Posted 261 days ago ago by Kendall Grayson

Ralston, NE – The Tri-City Storm hit the road today for a battle against rival Omaha in Ralston, NE. Tonight’s game will be the third game in three days for Tri-City. The Storm defeat Sioux Falls at home on Friday night by a final score of 2-1 and dropped a game last night to the Stampede 4-3. Tri-City dropped to 6th place in the Western Conference standings following last night’s home loss to Sioux Falls.

Opponent: Omaha Lancers

Game Time: 5:05 PM CT

Broadcast: Watch: HockeyTV Listen: The Breeze 94.5 FM or Online

Tri-City (29-20-1-2) won a thrilling game 3-2 in a shootout in their last trip to Ralston Arena on January 28th. Filip Larsson stopped 37 of Omaha’s 39 shots and stopped all six Lancers shooters in the shootout session. Keaton Pehrson and Brian Hawkinson scored the Storm’s goals in regulation and Filip Forsmark picked up the only goal in the shootout to give the Storm the victory. The Lancers lead the season series 4-3 with two games remaining. The Storm will host Omaha on April 4th in the season series finale. Tri-City is coming into tonight’s game after dropping a 4-3 home contest to Sioux Falls last night at the Viaero Center. The Storm got goals from Tyler Ward and Filip Forsmark and Jake Barczewski stopped 21 of the Stampede’s 25 shots and recorded the loss in net. Forsmark’s two goal performance gave him his 8th and 9th goals of the season. Tri-City is now 6th place in the Western Conference standings with 61 points and holds on to the final playoff spot in the conference standings. The Storm are 8 points from securing a playoff spot in this year’s Clark Cup Playoffs. Sioux City is 10 points back of Tri-City and the Storm’s playoff spot clinching number goes down by two following each Musketeers loss or each Storm win. A Tri-City win and a Sioux City loss today would give the Storm an opportunity to clinch a playoff spot on Friday night in Sioux City, IA in a matchup against the Musketeers.

Omaha (31-16-2-3) enters tonight’s game with the opportunity of becoming the 3rd Western Conference team to clinch a spot in the Clark Cup Playoffs this season. Waterloo and Fargo are currently 1st and 2nd in the Western Conference standings and have each secured a spot in this year’s playoffs. Omaha is 4th in the Western Conference standings but can jump to 3rd and clinch a spot in the playoffs with over Tri-City today. A win by Omaha would also clinch a season series victory over the Storm. The Lancers lost two games to Fargo on Thursday and Friday night by final scores of 7-1 and 8-2. Today’s game for Omaha is the final game at Ralston Arena for the Lancers until the final weekend of the regular when the team will play host to Lincoln and Sioux City. Omaha will look to snap a seven game winless streak in tonight’s game.

Tonight’s broadcast will begin at 4:45pm CT on HockeyTV and the Breeze 94.5FM. Puck drop is scheduled for 5:05pm CT.
