Preview: Storm host Team USA in series finale

Kearney, NE – The Tri-City Storm host Team USA today at the Viaero Center in the final game of the season series. The Storm will look to respond following an 8-2 home loss to Team USA last night. Noah Weber and Blake Evennou scored the Storm’s two goals in the loss.

Tri-City (27-17-1-2) enters today’s game following a six goal loss yesterday to Team USA. The Storm was outscored 6 to 1 in last night’s 2nd period, but managed to outscore Team USA 1-0 in the 3rd period. Noah Weber and Blake Evennou each scored goals for the Storm in the loss. Weber’s goal in the 2nd period was assisted by Evennou and Evennou’s goal was assisted by Chase McLane. Tri-City now has a home record of 12-10-1-0 following the loss. Scoring leaders for the Storm entering today’s game vs. Team USA include Tyler Madden and Bryan Yoon who are tied for the team lead with 28 points on the season. Madden also leads the team with 13 goals on the year, and Yoon is Tri-City’s assists leader with 26. Connor Hopkins started his 3rd consecutive game in goal last night for the Storm and recorded his first loss in regulation. Hopkin’s career record now stands at 1-1-0-1. Tri-City remains 5th place in the Western Conference standings with 57 points on the year.

 

Team USA (31-12-0-1) currently sits atop the Eastern Conference standings and can go to 1st place in the USHL League standings with a win over Tri-City today. Last night, Team USA forward Jack Hughes scored 4 goals in the team’s 8-2 win over Tri-City. Other Team USA goal scorers included Jake Wise, Jonathan Gruden, Trevor Janicke, and Joel Farabee. Drew DeRidder picked up the win in goal for Team USA in last night’s win and improved to 12-0 on the season. DeRidder leads all Team USA goaltenders with a 2.46 GAA on the season. Team USA’s top ranked power play went 2/4 last night and is now converting at 25.3%. Team USA has now scored 210 goals on the season, 42 more than the next best team (Cedar Rapids). Both the Under 18’s and Under 17’s teams in the United States National Team Development Program compete in the USHL throughout the season. The U18 team is the team representing Team USA in Kearney this weekend.
