Preview: Storm hit the road for battle with Buccaneers

Urbandale, IA – The Tri-City Storm travel to Buccaneer Arena in Urbandale, Iowa tonight to faceoff against the Des Moines Buccaneers following a 4-1 loss at home last night to the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders. Tri-City won their last matchup with Des Moines by a final score of 4-2 last Saturday night in Urbandale.

Tri-City (26-16-1-1) enters tonight’s game having won three of its last four games. Tri-City has a three game win streak snapped last night at home to the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders and will look to respond tonight with a win on the road against Des Moines. The Storm is 3-1-1 against the Bucs this season is seeking its 27th regular season win in tonight’s game. Last night, Adam Goodsir scored the Storm’s only goal with Connor McMenamin, and Mike Koster recording assists on the goal. Tyler Madden and Bryan Yoon are the Storm’s points leaders entering tonight’s matchup with 25 on the season. Madden also leads the team with 12 goals, and Yoon leads Tri-City with 24 assists. Mike Koster leads the team in points per game at 0.83 on the year. Koster picked up an assist in last night’s game and now as 5 assists in 6 games played with Tri-City this year. Jake Barczewski recorded the loss in net last night for the Storm and is now 8-6-1-1 on the season. Barczewski was replaced in the 3rd period by Connor Hopkins following an injury on the play. Hopkins played 9:32 in his Storm debut. Tri-City is currently 5th place in the Western Conference standings with 54 points.

 

Des Moines (17-22-23) enters tonight’s matchup with Tri-City following a 2-1 shootout loss to Sioux Falls last night at home. The Buccaneers are 8th place in the Western conference and currently trail 6th place Lincoln by 7 points for the final playoff spot. Des Moines will look to avoid dropping the season series vs. the Storm in tonight’s home game. Nicolas Werbik leads all Buccaneer skaters with 33 points on the season. Werbik also leads the Buccaneers in goals, scorng 19 during the 2017-2018 campaign. Brian Halonen leads Des Moines with 17 assists on the season. Roman Durny recorded the loss in goal in the Bucs’ last matchup with the Storm. Durny is 6-6-1-2 on the season with a 1.79 GAA.

 

Tonight’s broadcast will begin at 6:45pm CT on HockeyTV and the Breeze 94.5FM. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05pm CT.
