Preview: Storm travel to Omaha for third game of weekend

Ralston, NE. – The Tri-City Storm travel to Ralston, NE tonight to faceoff against rival Omaha for the sixth time this season. The Omaha Lancers are the only team to defeat the Tri-City Storm three times this season, and currently hold a 3-2 edge in the season series. Tri-City enters tonight’s game as the 1st place team in the USHL standings.

Tri-City (22-9-1-1) enters tonight’s game coming off a 4-0 shutout of the Central Illinois Flying Aces last night at the Viaero Center in Kearney. Tyler Madden, Blake Evennou, Jake Crespi, and Bryan Yoon scored the Storm goals in the win. Filip Larsson posted his league leading 6th shutout, stopping all 21 Flying Aces shots in the victory.

 

Tyler Madden scored last night’s game winning goal on the power play and continues to lead the Storm in both goals and points. Madden has netted his team leading 12th goal of the season last night and leads Tri-City with 21 points on the season. Bryan Yoon scored his 1st goal of the season last night and leads all Tri-City skaters with 17 assists on the year. Tri-City dropped Friday night’s game to Central Illinois by a final of 2-0 and will be seeking to even up the season series against Omaha today.

 

Omaha (21-10-2-0) will be seeking a third victory on the weekend after going winning both games over rival Lincoln on Friday and Saturday. The Lancers are 4th in the USHL standings, but only 2 points back of 1st place Tri-City. The Lancers blasted the Lincoln Stars 6-0 on Friday night at home and then edged the Stars by a final score of 2-1 last night on the road. Omaha has won the last two games over Tri-City, after the Storm took 2 of 3 from the Lancers to begin the season series.

 

Filip Suchy leads the Lancers with 15 goals and 32 points on the season. Cole Gallant and Christian O’Neill are tied for the team lead in assists with 21. Zach Driscoll has played the majority of games in goal for Omaha this season and has an overall record of 12-5-1 and a 1.79 Goals Against Average (GAA). Vincent Purpura has played in 11 games with the Lancers this season and is 7-2-1 with a 2.10 GAA.

 

Tonight’s broadcast will begin at 4:45pm CT on HockeyTV and the Breeze 94.5FM. Puck drop is scheduled for 5:05pm CT.
