Preview: Storm look to even series vs. CIL

Kearney, NE. – The Tri-City Storm return home tonight following a 2-0 loss to the Central Illinois Flying Aces last night at the Viaero Center. Tri-City was shutout for only the third time this season in last night’s loss, and will look to even up the season series with a victory tonight. The Storm have had success against teams from the Eastern Conference this season and currently hold a 7-3-0-1 record against teams in cross conference matchups this season.

Tri-City (21-9-1-1) remains the 1st place team in the USHL standings despite losing at home last night to Central Illinois. Filip Larsson fell to 14-5 in last night’s loss, but still leads the USHL in several goaltending statistics including GAA (1.48), Save Percentage (.944), and shutouts (5). The Storm power play went 0 for 6 in last night’s loss and remains the 13th ranked PP in the league. Tri-City’s penalty kill was 7 for 9 last night, and is still the #1 ranked PK in the USHL at 86.9%.

 

Central Illinois (12-18-1-3) picked up their 4th road victory of the season in last night’s 2-0 shutout of the Storm. The Flying Aces moved from 17th to 16th in the USHL standings in the win. Goaltender Ryan Snowden stopped all 31Tri-City shots last night and improved to 5-8-0-2 in the win.  

 

Tonight is The Taste of Nebraska presented by First National Bank at the Viaero Center! There will be local vendors setup around the concourse with best local favor of Nebraska! Season ticket holders attending the game will also be entered into a raffle to win a jersey during the February 9th game against Fargo! Entry into the game will automatically register any season ticket holder to win the jersey. First National Bank Storm debit cardholders will gain early access to the event beginning at 6:15PM!
