Kearney, NE. – Tri-City Storm scoring leader Tyler Madden has been named to NHL Central Scouting’s Mid-Term Rankings as one of the top prospects for this year’s NHL draft in Dallas, Texas. Madden is ranked as the 49th best player among North American skaters in the latest rankings. He is the lone Tri-City Storm player named to Central Scouting’s list.
Tyler Madden, 18, of Albany, NY leads all Storm players with 11 goals and 20 points on the season. He was named the 1st Star and MVP of Team East in the 2018 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game played in Kearney earlier this month. Madden scored two goals in the game, including the game winning goal with less than five minutes remaining in the game. He was acquired by Tri-City in December in a trade with Central Illinois. Madden has scored five goals in nine games since being traded to the team.
In the last ranking by NHL Central Scouting in November, Madden was given a “C” rating by the scouting service, and indication that he was a candidate for a 4th, 5th, or 6th round draft selection. Today’s rankings by Central Scouting are the first this season to rank players individually. In the previous set of rankings, more than 300 North American players were given an “A”, “B”, “C”, or “LV (Limited Viewing)” rating by Central Scouting. The rankings released today condense the ranking pool considerably and indicate that Madden’s draft stock has risen since his trade to Tri-City on December 11th. He is one of only 50 USHL players to be named to the midterm list.
The 2018 NHL Draft will be held June 22-23, 2018 in Dallas, Texas.
